Fountain of Youth

Step One: Microneedling with Radiofrequency

Step Two: Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Step Three: PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin)

Microneedling uses bi-polar, RF energy alongside minimally invasive micro-needles to facilitate effective, non-surgical skin tightening with little to no downtime. During the treatment, heat is driven deep within the skin layers to stimulate and remodel the collagen and cause elastin cells to regenerate. This results in a firmer, smoother, and more consistent skin surface. The most recent development in laser skin resurfacing with little downtime is fractional laser delivery.

Additional Reading

When used on skin, this laser may precisely resurface damaged areas to reduce the appearance of fine lines, UV damage, acne scars, and age spots (discoloration). This will allow us to penetrate deeper to get better results with less downtime. It is also really good for laxed skin around the eyes and “smoker’s line” above the upper lip. After your treatment, we will draw your blood and spin it down to collect your body’s own platelet-rich fibrin (PRF). This will be applied topically to the skin to accelerate the healing response by using your body's own growth factors. Increase hydration 72 hours prior to your appointment for optimal results. This treatment can range from very mild with no downtime to much more aggressive with up to two weeks of downtime.

Tight

The ultimate trio in achieving facial rejuvenation.

Treatment Instructions

Before your first treatment:

Discuss and disclose any healing disorders, such as ones caused by diabetes mellitus, connective tissue disease, or radiation/ chemotherapy. If there is an active infection or history of herpes simplex of the lips, mouth, or face, your provider can prescribe an antibiotic to avoid breakouts. Be sure to discuss and disclose allergies to topical anesthetics, antibiotics, or other medications, a history of any hypertrophic scarring, keloid formations, or other skin diseases. Do not proceed with this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not proceed with the treatment if Isotretinoin (Accutane) has been used within the past 12 months.

Before Follow-Up Treatments

Please mention any new medications you may begin using during your treatment program. Treatments cannot be performed on areas with a suntan or sunburn. Avoid direct exposure to the sun and tanning beds four weeks prior to treatment. A broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher should be applied to any treatment area exposed to the sun.

Precautions

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here for you!

  • Avoid exposure to the sun and tanning beds for 30 days prior to the treatment.
  • Do not rub, scratch, or pick at the treated area. Treat the area gently. Pat skin dry after bathing or showering.
  • Makeup may be applied over the treated area 48-72 hours after the treatment, once the skin has healed and ointment is no longer required.
  • Avoid shaving the treated area for 48 hours after the procedure.
  • You may resume any skincare with active ingredients such as (Hydroquinone, Vitamin C, Retinol, Retin A, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, and Lactic acid) after the skin has fully healed. (Approximately 7-10 days)

Expectations After Your Treatment

Mild- moderate erythema (redness) will be present in the treatment area and can last from a few hours up to a few weeks. Treatment areas almost always become erythematous. Immediately following the procedure, you will experience a mild sunburn sensation that may include some mild discomfort. Most patients do not feel any significant discomfort, however, an ice pack (not direct ice) may be applied to help soothe areas with discomfort. If you swell easily after procedures, you may take Claritin or Zyrtec daily for one week prior to your appointment and continue it for a week after your treatment. An occlusive ointment may be used after facial resurfacing treatments. It is important to protect your skin from environmental elements; therefore, a lotion with an SPF protection of at least 30 should be used daily. A few days post-procedure, patients will experience mild to moderate peeling of the skin (depending on treatment settings). The peeling is similar to the effects of sunburn. Continue to follow the skincare regimen offered by Candice Roberts, NP. Do not pick at the peeling skin, as it may lead to scarring.

The Night of Your Treatment

Sleep elevated to reduce swelling. You can take Benadryl to help with the swelling if needed. Place a fresh towel on your pillowcase every night until the skin has fully healed.

The Day After Your Treatment

  • Apply vinegar and water solution (2 cups water to 1 cap full of vinegar) to a soft cloth and apply to the face. This will help soothe irritation and kill any bacteria in the treatment area.
  • Drink LOTS of water during the healing process
  • Shower as usual but be aware that the treated area may be a little temperature sensitive.
  • Avoid chlorine, hot tubs, and swimming pools during the treatment program.
  • Avoid direct contact with the sun during your treatment program. Always use topical sun protection of SPF 30 once the skin has healed fully (generally around one week).
  • Avoid the use of exfoliants, loofah sponges, and aggressive scrubbing to the treated areas.

General Post-Treatment Skincare

Proper skin care is important to protect the newly refreshed skin. Candice Roberts, NP, will discuss a proper skincare regimen following your treatment.

  • Keep the area clean and moist until fully healed.
  • WASH the treated area daily with a mild cleanser twice daily (ZO Gentle Cleanser/ Vanicream / Cetaphil / CeraVe cleansers can be purchased over the counter.)
  • Use cool water and only your fingertips to cleanse.
  • WET the treatment area with water, then apply Vanicream Ointment to the area several times a day until evidence of dryness, blistering, or swelling has dissipated.
  • This can be up to a week, depending on how aggressive your treatment was. If you have sensitive areas that are taking longer to heal, you may continue to apply the ointment as long as needed. Once the area is healed, switch to a mild moisturizer (ZO Hydrating Creme/ Vanicream / Cetaphil / CeraVeMoisturizers can be purchased over the counter).

Treatment Instructions

Before Your Treatment

Don’t Pluck

Prior to a laser hair removal treatment, patients must abstain from tweezing, waxing, or any other unwanted hair treatment that removes hair from its root. There must be hair in the hair follicle for laser hair removal to work. The laser is attracted to the melanin, or pigment, of the hair. The hair must be in its anagen, or active, growth phase.

Don’t Tan:

You should also avoid sun exposure 4-6 weeks before your laser hair removal treatment. Tanned skin has extra melanin, which attracts laser energy.

Don’t Moisturize

Right before your laser hair removal treatment, avoid applying any lotion, sunscreen, perfume, or other similar cosmetics to the surface of your skin.

Shave

Shave 1-3 days before your session. The idea is to have a nice, close shave so that there is no hair outside the skin. It is best to have just enough hair to be visible, so your laser technician knows what is to be treated. There may be some slight charring of the small amount of stubble that gets hit by the laser. So, if you notice an odor of singed hair, that’s normal.

Laser Treatment For Vessels

What Special Care Instructions Do I Need To Know?

Please see our care instructions below to optimize your results.

Treatment Instructions

Laser Vessel Pre-Treatment Instructions

Discontinue medications or supplements that may thin your blood one week prior to vein treatments to minimize bruising and improve the success of your treatment. This includes fish oil, flaxseed oil, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, anti-inflammatory medications (ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve), and red wine. If you are taking aspirin electively and not upon the advice of your physician, then you may stop it for 48 hours prior to your treatment. Do not stop aspirin if prescribed or recommended by your physician. You may wish to bring a pair of shorts to wear during your treatment if you are having your legs treated.

If facial veins are being treated, there may be minor bruising and/or swelling following treatment. This can typically be covered using make-up. Plan accordingly since your face may show slight evidence of the laser treatment for a week or more. If leg veins are being treated, minor bruising, discoloration, and welting may occur over treatment sites. Larger leg veins may appear bruised for a period of time after treatment. Full results can take weeks or months to be realized.

Plan and schedule treatments accordingly, allowing for healing time and time for your treatment results to evolve to completion. The best time to treat leg veins is in fall, winter, and spring, when you are less inclined to wear shorts or be exposed to the sun. Plan treatments allowing for a period of no sun exposure, vigorous activity, or use of hot tubs, saunas, or spas for 48 hours after treatment

Post Leg Vein Treatment Instructions

  • Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF 30 sunblock for one month after treatment on all treated areas that may be exposed to the sun.
  • Cold compresses may be applied to reduce redness and swelling. 3. Please call us at the first sign of persistent pain or blistering.
  • Use support hose 20-30 PSI worn continuously for three to five days. (You may purchase these at a medical supply store or pharmacy.)
  • Treatment area should be gently washed twice per day with tepid water and mild soap.

Things To Avoid After Your Treatment

  • Do NOT exercise for three days after treatment.
  • Do NOT use alcohol, aspirin, Advil, or any blood thinners for five days.
  • Do NOT take hot showers or baths or use hot tubs or saunas for five days.

Post-Treatment Expectations

Expect some redness and swelling, which may convert to a “cat scratch” scab for 8-12 weeks. Leg vein resolution usually takes about 8-12 weeks. At the end of this process, some vessels may be gone, while others may be lighter or not affected.

Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser Tattoo Removal uses photo-acoustic shock waves to break ink pigments into smaller particles. Macrophages eliminate ink particles through the body’s natural pathways over time.
